Becoming Queen
Princess Alexandrina Victoria became on June 20, 1837. She heard she was Queen because of the death of her uncle William IV. This is significant because Queen Victoria’s first Prime Minister Lord Melbourne made a report with her; training her in the matter of understanding the limits placed on royal power under unwritten British constitution. But understanding British Constitution limits was difficult. -
Rumors
In 1839 Queen Victoria’s reputation suffered. When one of Victoria’s mother’s ladies in waiting Lady Flora Hastings developed an abnormal growth. Victoria said that she was pregnant by Sir John Conroy. Lady Flora refused to submit to a naked medical examination, until in the middle of February. She soon then agreed and was found to be a virgin. This is significant because the Hastings family organized a press campaign saying that Queen Victoria is spreading false rumors about Lady Flora. -

Prince Albert and Queen Victoria
On October 15, 1839 Queen Victoria proposed to her cousin Prince Albert. They got married on February 10, 1840 in the Chapel Royal of St. James Palace, London. They had nine children. Prince Albert became an important political adviser as well as the Queen's companion, replacing Lord Melbourne as the dominant, and an influence figure in the first half of her life. This is significant because he dies 23 years later. This changed Queen Victoria’s life. -

On February 10, 1840 Saxe Coburg Ally entered Victoria’s life. Because she was married to Prince Albert, this meant that a very strong view of royal powers would prevail (to win) for the next twenty-one years in till Prince Albert dies in 1861. If uncle Leopold did not lead his brothers son and his sisters daughter to the alter, then they might not have ever met. This is significant because she could have lost her powers of being Queen. -

On 29 May 1842, Victoria was riding in a carriage along the mall, London when John Francis aimed a pistol at her; but the gun did not fire. He then escaped. But then the following day, Victoria drove the same route, though faster and with a greater escort, in an attempt to provoke Francis to take a second aim and catch him in the act. On December 14, 1861 Queen Victoria’s Husband Prince Albert died. She was devastated. They were married for 21 years and he was the love of her life. This is significant because she was never the same after. She entered a state of mourning and wore black for the rest of her life. She avoided public appearances, and rarely set foot in London in the following years. -

Problems
In 1880 Queen Victoria tried to install a Prime Minister other than William Edward Gladstone; which she was beaten by. She also tried to argue against him. Gladstone saw problems in Egypt and in Ireland, where the government passed repressive measures but also improved the legal rights of Irish tenant farmers. This is significant because Victoria didn’t want any problems. -
Queen Victoria exceed.
On 23 September 1896, Victoria exceeds her grandfather George III as the longest-reigning monarchy in English, Scottish and British history. She requested that any special celebrations be delayed until 1897, to go with her Diamond Jubilee, which was made a festival of the British at the suggestion of Colonial Secretary Joseph Chamberlain. This is significant because she was the longest reigning monarchy in history. -

Queen Victoria died on January 22, 1901. She was Queen for 63 years. She was queen for longer than any other British monarch. She also the longest- reigning female over any civilization. This is significant because Queen Victoria impacted her country by helping the country grow. She made the industry better by science and communication like the telegraphs and former technology. She also helped her country come out of poverty and increased urban populations.
