    In 1977, Apple II was introduced. With it's new and improved components, it soon became popular worldwide selling millions between 1977 and 1993, making it one of the longest-lived lines of personal computers. Thousands of Apple II computers were distributed to schools, giving internet access to young students.
  • First Computers Installed in the White House

    First Computers Installed in the White House
    Terminals were installed in the White House in 1978 for the staff and a Xerox Alto was installed in the Oval Office. Although, when Reagan was elected President he removed the computer from the Oval Office.

    In 1983, Lisa is released, the first commerial personal computer with GUI (graphical user interface). This stood as a milestone for many software and computer companies. The sales were poor for Lisa, only selling approximately 100,000.
  • Pixar is founded

    Pixar was founded in 1986. Originally known as the Special Effects Computer Group at Lucasfilm, Pixar is known for its animated, Oscar-winning films. Steve Jobs purchased and changed the name to Pixar for 10 million. Disney bought Pixar in 2006.

    In 1993, the Newton became Apple's first handheld computer. Although it ended up not performing as hoped and was discontinued, the Newton depicted features that would be used in decades following.

    In 1995, the DVD (Digital Video Disc) format is introduced, and its storage capacity is a huge increase over the CD (common compact disc). DVDs came in read-only and read-write formats. It has better audio and video quality, interactivity, and improved lifespan.

    In 2003, the blu-ray disc was introduced taking the place of the original DVD. The blu-ray disc stores high definition videos and uses a blue laser that reads data on a disc, while originally they used a red laser.

    LeapPad is a range of tablet computers developed for children. Around the time I was six, I got this technological device that amazed me. It was my Leap Pad. I loved my Leap Pad and my favorite story to read and listen to was Mother Goose. My Leap Pad is still under my bed to this day.

    In 2007, the first Apple iPhone was released. This was the beginning of a multi-billion business and the epitome of phones. The most famous features was the apps that you download from the app store. Some of it's features include, touchscreen, GPS, high-def camera, texting, etc.

    In 2007, Netbooks came out, which are small lightweight computers that offered a smaller screen and keyboard. I got my first laptop around the time I was 8 and it was a Netbook. It has less processing power than a full-sized laptop.
