    this disease Minamata has caused lots of deaths.

    silent spring is a book written by Rachel Carson about environmental science. it emphasises de environmental effects that were caused by extensive use of pesticides.
  • 1969 - James Lovelock

    1969 - James Lovelock
    An independent scientist, environmentalist and futurist. best known by his hypothesis which predicates that the Earth´s functions are a self- regulating system.
  • 1970 - the first Earth Day

    Was the 22nd of April of 1970. This is an event to show support for the environment and today 193 countries are involved. It is opened for anyone who would like to help the environment and they can do different activities like plant trees, shop with a cloth bag instead of using plastic bags, etc. and created immediate impacts.

    Happened on the 25-26th of April at the Chernobyl Nuclear Water Plant located in the Soviet Union. was a nuclear catastrophic nuclear that was caused because the graphite-moderated nuclear power reactor and other reactors found at the plant. this created several explosions

    emphasised on sustainable development. The goal is to provide the essential requirements to the world’s poor and the idea of technology. they said that there were three fundamental components to sustainable development: environmental protection, economic growth and equity.

    Held in Rio de Janeiro, the intention is of rethinking economic growth, brought together leaders of 105 nations to discuss. also advancing in social equality, and ensuring environmental protection.
  • 1997 - The Kyoto Protocol

    1997 - The Kyoto Protocol
    Is an international agreement signed on December 11th 1997, in Kyoto, Japan. It commits its signatories to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions. The protocol recognizes that, mainly, developed countries are responsible for the current high levels of GHG emissions because of big industrial activity over the past years. 37 industrialized countries committed to reduce their GHG emissions by 5% compared to the 1997 levels.

    there was an energy accident at the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear power plant initiated by a 15m tsunami followed by the Tōhoku earthquake because of this some radioactive elements escaped from Fukushima and caused the release of radioactive material into the sea for a long time and the damage in biodiversity.

This agreement brings for the first time all nations into the same cause to take on ambitious efforts to defeat climate change and adapt countries to its effects.

Wildlife is dying out due to many factors as habitat destruction, overhunting, toxic pollution, human overpopulation, continued population growth, and overconsumption. The sixth mass extinction is seriously threatening the world’s food supplies.
