The Formation of the Teachers Union
This was a united front to help give all the teachers a equal voice and help satisfy their needs. From starting out as a small association. The NEA now has 3.2 million members and is still the main source that provides for teachers today. -
Brown v The Board of Education
This court ruling overturned the "seperate but equal" ideal and acted as the starting point for desegregation of schools. This event was a step towards the civil rights movement and has helped form the society we live in today. -
Title IX
Title IX prohibits discrimination based upon sex and finally became a law. It helped give women a fair and equal opportunity in school and athletics. This is another major event has helped to equalize our society and give everyone a fair chance. -
Public Schools Connected to Internet
With technology steadily improving finally in 2001 every public school had access to the internet. This is so important becuase everyday we are becoming more advanced and it all starts with being connected and how it has become a large source for public education.
