Hitler invades Poland on September 1st. Britain and France declare war on Germany two days later. -
The Blitz
This is the sustained campaign of aerial bombing attacks on British towns and cities carried out by the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). -
Battle of Britain
Germany had only one enemy left- Great Britian. They decided to take over Britian by bombing them and taking over there airspace. Although the Germans continued to bomb Britian by october it was clear that the British had won. This was the first defeat of the Germans in WWII. -
D Day
Allied forces launched a combined naval, air and land assault on Nazi-occupied France.
