    Jackie Robinson debuts for the Brooklyn Dodgers to break the MLB color barrier and paves the way for new oppurtunities for colored athletes

  • Executive order 9981

    Eisenhower integrates the Armed Forces giving equal oppurtunity for all races.

  • Emmit Till

    Emmit Till was a 14 year old who was brutally murdered for allegedly flirting with a white women. The defendents went through a 67 minutes court case in front of a all white jury and were proven innocent.

  • Rosa Parks and the starting of the Montgomery Bus boycot

    Rosa Park resisted a White man's orders to move to the back of the bus when coming home from work. This started the Montgomery bus boycott.

  • Little Rock 9

    Eisenhower orders the integration of Little Rock Central High school through the use of the U.S. army to protect the students from racial violence

  • Freedom Rides

    The first of many "freedom rides" leaves washinton D.C. Their goal was to test the validity of the segragtion of public busses. They are brutally beatin by white mobs in Birmingham

  • "I Have a Dream" speech

    MLK has his famous "I have a dream" speech in front of about 200,000 protesters at the Lincoln Memorial in Washinton D.C.

  • JFK assasination

    JFK is assainated by Lee Harvey Oswald giving the presidential reins to LBJ.

  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    President LBJ signs the Civil rights act of 1964 mandating equal opportunity employment, and complete desegregation of schools and other public facilities. It also outlaws unequal voter registration requirements.

  • Assasination of MLK

    MLK is assasinated in a hotel balcony.
