Continental Blockade
France imposed the continental blockade against Great Britain to prevent all trades with the rest of Europe until the end of the war 1803-1815. France got all their lumber from Canada which increased the timber trade. -

First Railway opened in Canada

Rebellions in Lower and Upper Canada
. People from the Upper and Lower Canada who rebelled against the Crown to stay loyal to the British. -
Durham Report
This is the report that encourage Upper and Lower Canada to Unite as one to become the Province of Canada. This also led to the Union Act, as well as the Responsible Government. The Durham report played a very important role in the evolution of Canadian policies. -
Union Act
. This act was passed by the British government in order to create the Province of Canada. Upper and Lower Canada become one. -
Creation Of A Responsible Government
. Canada achieved independence from the British without any revolution. The Responsible Government was created for the people. -
Confederation
New Brunswick and Nova Scotia joined the Province of Canada to form the Dominion of Canada. Creation of Canada day. Signed on July 1st in 1867. -

Aims to eradicate First Nation culture in favour of assimilation into Euro-Canadian Society. -
Policies and politics for First Nations from 1879-1914
- 1880: Amendment- Women who marry non-indigenous men loose their rights as an Aboriginal person.
- 1884: Amendment- Those who practice their culture will be liable to imprisonment
- 1891: Amendment: First Nation children are forced to attend Residential schools until the age of 18.
