Hilary Putman Contribution to Philosophy
Hilary Putman was known for many contributions in the science and philosophy world. His most well know contribution in philosophy was in the 1960’s when he published several papers that hypothesized multiple realizability. -
Multiple Realizability
Multiple Realizations is that a single kind (property, state, event) can be realized by many distinct physical kinds (Bickle, John). -
Example of Multiple Realizations
An often example of this pain. I think another good example that is the opposite is happiness. Happiness is a single state of mind but can come from many physical kinds. Some examples are like watching a loved one get married, favorite sports team winning a game, spiritual happiness, etc. -
