The northern and southern states had different ideas of slavery, as well as trade, tariffs, and states rights. -

Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the front of a public bus. Rosa parks did not give up her seat because she believed all people of any race were equal, and it did not matter where someone sat on a bus. This took place in Montgomery, Alabama. Rosa got arrested and went to jail. -

A Russian man Yuri Gagarin is the first human to be in space. The Vostok-1 spacecraft blasted off from the Baikonur launch site. He went to space because The Russians scored a victory when they launched a him to new heights.
