HHG Seely's Timeline

By Seely
  • My First Word

I was 15 months old when I began to speak, my first word was "mom". This aided in my social and intellectual development. Socially, I was better able to communicate and share simple conversations with those around me. Intellectually, my brain was beginning to create full thoughts and turn those thoughts into words.
  • My First Steps

I was 15 months old when I began to walk. This caused a change in my physical development because I was learning to balance my weight while taking steps. This was also my first time gaining the freedom to go wherever I wanted to go (within reason). This experience led to other forms of physical development, like running and skipping.

A 16 Year Timeline of My Milestones and Achievements

  • The Birth Of My Sister

    The Birth Of My Sister
My first and only sister was born on November 29th, 1998. This played a role in my own development for 2 reasons. I was no longer an only child, which affected my personality development. (The Birth Order Theory suggests that the oldest children tend to be bossy). Emotionally, I had to come to terms with no longer being the center of attention and learn to love another person unconditionally.
  • My First Day of School

I started junior kindergarten when I was 3 years old at Alpine Public School. This mainly aided in my social and intellectual development. Socially, I was learning to share, make friends, and be kind to children my own age. Intellectually, I was learning new skills, like how to count, spell, and read. I will continue to expand on these skills throughout my life.
  • The Big Move

When I was 6 years old, I moved to a new neighbourhood and started grade 2 at a new school. This affected my social and emotional development because I had to learn to make connections with new people. I also had to leave a place I called home and learn to find "home" in a new place.
  • Our First Dog

    Our First Dog
In August of 2007 my family and I got our first pet dog. This helped with my emotional and intellectual development because I began to form a relationship with a new "member of the family". Intellectually, I had to learn how to care for another living thing and respect her needs.
  • First Day of High School

My first day of high school was in September of 2009 at FHCI. This played a role in my social, emotional, and intellectual development. Socially, I began to make new friends and lose touch with my old ones. Emotionally, I was experiencing high amounts of stress and pressure due to school work and wanting to fit in with my peers. Intellectually, I was gaining knowledge from my academic courses and learning new skills.
  • Getting Braces

    Getting Braces
I got my braces on my birthday in December of 2009. This affected my physical and emotional development. Physically, my teeth were being shifted to make room for other teeth to come in. Emotionally, I became more confident in myself and my smile when they eventually came off in December of 2011.
  • First Relationship

    First Relationship
In September of 2011 I began my first serious relationship. This helped with my emotional development because I learned to care for another person and risk the chance of "heart break".
  • Death of My Nana

    Death of My Nana
In March of 2012 my grandmother passed away. This made a significant impact on my emotional development. It was my first time losing a loved one, I had to learn to grieve and mourn by myself. It was the first time I had to miss somebody that I love.
  • My First Job

In April of 2012 I got my first job at Angel's family restaurant. This was a milestone and aided in my emotional, intellectual, and social development. Socially, I had to learn how to speak and be friendly to customers while greeting them at the door. Emotionally, I had to learn how to control my temper if a boss, customer, or coworker made me angry. Intellectually, I had to learn new skills and follow the instructions from my managers.
  • Getting My License

In the summer of 2012 I successfully got my G1. This affected my intellectual development because I learned the new skill of driving a car. I also needed to take responsibility to study the rules of the road and always follow them to ensure safety.
