13th amendment
The 13th amendment officially abolished and still continued to prohibit slavery and involuntary servitude (meaning for a person laboring against that person's will to benefit another) except for a crime. -
Freedman's Bureau
The Freedman's bureau helped the freed slaves have shelter, food, supplies, education and civil rights. -
Civil War Ended
The Civil War was ended at the appomattox court house in viginia. A few reasons why they went to war is because of slavery, popular sovereignty, and sectionalism. This war was the worst because it left over 600,000 soldiers dead. This was the worst war in American history. -
President Lincoln Was Assassinated
President Abraham Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. Vice President Andrew Jackson was to take over. He used most of lincoln's plans for reconstruction. Lincoln was killed approximately five days after the civil war ended. -
Andrew Johnson
Andrew Johnson became president after President Lincoln was assassinated. -
Black codes
The black codes allowed free slaves/ African Americans citizenship. Also it allowed them to vote. -
Ku Klux klan
The Ku Lux Clan were a huge group of angry Southerners and killed anyone that supported blacks. They also would kill many blacks and they would gather around and burn a huge cross in your yard. -
Frredman's Bureau bill is passed by congress
President Andrew Johnson vetos the bill that approved millitary trial for those occused of denying negros of their civil rights. -
The civil Rights Act of 1866
It declared that an person born in the United States becomes a citizen. Doesn't mater what gender, race or color. -
14th amendment
It gave all blacks a right to vote and become more free. -
