The birth process is difficult, there's 5 stages. early signs of labor, contractions, very bad contractions where the women experiences great discomfort, delivery, and postpartum. Postpartum period involves initial interactions with the baby. An infants survival rate depends on many things like complication during birth, exposure to teratogens ,mothers age, and prenatal care. -
Case Study (A fathers Recollections about his daughters birth)
I choose the one of the dad remembering his daughters birth. I choose this because it doesn't really show that dads perspective on things and I think that's really important. father figures pay a big role in and child's life. They help them develop by teaching them things and taking care of their needs. -
Attachment
Attachment is a the process in which people make specific emotional bonds with others. attachment helps the infant and caregiver bond. it also helps the baby feel safe and comfortable in the environment they are in. infants can develop attachments to parents, teachers, baby sitters ect. -
Fantasy Play
Fantasy play is an important part of development, it helps children express themselves and be creative. as children enter toddler-hood they start to imitate parental activities. fantasy Play is essential for full social,intellectual, and emotional development. there are 4 stages of fantasy Play. 1) action component becomes more complex 2)shits to fantasies that involve others 3) play always involves objects 4) play becomes more socially interactive, organized, and planned. -
Case Study (Gender identification in early childhood.)
I choose this case study because it shows how gender roles/ stereotypes affect children. in this it talks about how when she would do things with her dad it was more outside things. when she was with her mother her mom would give her boos to read tel, her stories. this shows that gender roles can affect how people grow up and how others are around them. -

This is a period of time when children start to get the concept of gender. they start to use labels and understand gender roles. eventually children will have a gender preference. gender roles can influence the activities children do and interests. gender Identification affects children cognitively, physically and emotionally because of what decisions they make based on their gender. -

Friendship is a crucial part of development because it helps social skills and cooperation. social skills are important because it helps children manage social difficulties. friendship helps children learn empathy and how to communicate with peers. friendships can also influence the way children think. its important for children to experience friendships because it teaches them things and can affect how they feel about themselves. -
Case study (Recollections of childhood friends)
I choose this case study because it shows that friendships are a big part of your life even at a young age. in the case study it talks about how these people remember the friends they had when they were little. this relates to the book because it says that children make friends who have the same interests as each other.
