At an election day celebration in Kentucky, Ellison Hatfield (Devil Anse's brother) got into a fight with some of the McCoy boys. One of the McCoy boys stabbed Ellison multiple times and shot him. The Hatfield's took and in prisoned the McCoy boys in West Virginia. Devil Anse said that the Mccoy boys would live, only if Ellison survived. Unfortunately for the Mccoy boys, Ellison died and the Hatfields took them back to Kentucky where they tied them to trees and shot and killed them. -
