The death of Harry's parents
Voldemort, the evilest wizard of all time, murders Harry Potter's parents. He also attempts to kill Harry, but the curse ricochets off Harry and hits Voldemort instead. Voldemort disappears, and people assume he is dead. Harry is left with nothing but a scar -
Harry is delivered at the Dursleys
Hagrid, the gatekeeper at Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry, picks Harry up at his house, and flies him to London on his magic motorcycle. There, he meets professor Dumbledore and professor Mcgonagall, who place Harry on the porch of Harry's aunt and uncle. He has to stay here until he is old enough to go to Hogwarts. -
Harry goes to the zoo
On Harry's cousin Dudley's birthday the family decides to pay a visit to the zoo. This is where Harry experiences his magic abilities for the first time. While Dudley is leaning on the window, annoying the snake behind, Harry makes the glass disappear and Dudley falls into the snake's cage. -
The letter(s) from Hogwarts arrive(s)
Just upon turning eleven, Harry receives his first Hogwarts acceptance letter. However, he was not able to read it, as his uncle took it from him, and burned it to ashes. -
Harry's birthday
After being bombarded by letters, uncle Vernon decides that the family should move to an island, isolated from the rest of the world. However, this does not prevent the giant Hagrid to wish Harry a happy birthday. Hagrid shows up at the door, knocks it down and gives Harry a cake and the Hogwarts acceptance letter, and Harry is finally able to read it. -
Harry gets his wand and his owl Hedwig
Harry and Hagrid travel to Diagon Alley, the shopping street for wizards, to buy all the essentials before going to school. This is were Harry buys his owl Hedwig. He needs to buy a magic wand as well. The wand maker, Ollivander, tells Harry that he one that works for him is the twin wand of Voldemort's, something Harry simply cannot understand, but as Ollivander always says: "The wand chooses the wizard." -
Platform 9 3/4
To get to Hogwarts, Harry has to take the train. Hagrid had told him that the train would leave from platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross, but forgot to tell him how to get there. This is when Harry meets the Weasleys. They help him through a brick wall, which is the entrance to platform 9 3/4. -
Harry meets and Hermione
On the train he meets his soon-to-be best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry buys Ron some candy as Ron's family is quite poor, and the food he had brought was not very tasty. Hermione shows up later, looking for Neville Longbottom's frog. -
The Sorting Hat chooses Harry's house
At Hogwarts a sorting hat sorts all the students into different houses; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. As the hat is put on Harry's head he begs the hat to not put him in Slytherin, as he had learned that most evil wizards came from Slytherin, including Voldemort. The Sorting Hat took this into consideration, and put him in Gryffindor. -
First flying lesson
During the first flying lesson (wizards fly by riding a broomstick) Neville Longbottom falls and breaks his arm. While the teacher is bringing him to the infirmary, Draco Malfoy throws Neville's glass toy into the air. Harry flies up and catches it. Professor Mcogonagall sees how talented Harry is at flying and catching, and decides to make him the Gryffindor quidditch snitch. Quidditch is the main sport in the wizard world. -
Harry discovers the there-headed dog
After Malfoy tricked Harry into going to the trophy cabinet at midnight, and the janitor Mr. Filch almost catches them, Harry and his friends run through the first door they can find. The door leads to the third floor, that has been prohibited by Professor Dumbledore. Behind the door lays a gigantic three-headed dog, and the friends are quite quick at getting back out again. -
Halloween
A troll manages to sneak into the school, and for some reason, into the girl's lavatory. In a heroic act, Harry and Ron manage to knock it out by sticking Harry's wand up its nose and hitting it in the head with its own club. -
Harry's first Quidditch match
During Harry's first Quidditch match Harry loses control of his broom. Hermione and Ron believe that the broom has been jinxed by professor Snape. Hermione proceeds by setting Snape's clothes on fire, and Harry regains control of the broom. Later Harry makes a spectacular play to win the match. -
Harry receives an invisibility cloak and discovers the Mirror of Erised
On Christmas Eve Harry receives an invisibility cloak that was once owned by his father. Harry uses it to explore the school at night, and he discovers a mirror that shows what you desire the most in life. Harry sees his parents alive. -
Harry and his friends learn about the philosopher's stone
After a break-in at Gringotts, the bank of the wizarding world, Harry and his friends see a connection between the break-in and the dog on the third floor. They figure out that the dog is guarding the philosopher's stone, which can give the owner eternal life. -
The Forbidden Forest
After getting caught being outside in the middle of the night, Harry, Ron and Hermione get a punishment. The punishment involves them having to go with Hagrid into the Forbidden Forest to find dead unicorns. Harry finds one, but there is already someone else there. The man attempts to attack Harry, but a friendly centaur, a mixture between man and horse, saves him. The centaur tells him that the person was Voldemort, and also that Voldemort is the one that tries to steal the stone. -
Professor Quirrell
Harry decides that he wants to retrieve the stone before Voldemort does. He and his friends sneak past the three-headed dog and get through three challenges on their way to the stone. On the end of the hall, professor Quirrell stands with Voldemort on the back of his head. He attacks Harry, but Quirrell gets burned by contact with Harry. Harry passes out. -
The House Cup
Harry wakes up in the infirmary, with Dumbledore standing next to him. Dumbledore tells him that the stone has been destroyed but that Voldemort will return one day. Later on, Gryffindor is rewarded the House cup for their bravery throughout the year.
