Harriet Tubman Timeline

  • Bucktown Store

    Bucktown Store
Harriet was struck upon the head at the store when trying to help a slave escape. This resulted in her to have brain problems and she was about 12 years old. I put this as the first picture because it was one of the earliest events that happened in her life and out of the twelve pictures this was the earliest events
  • Portrait with Chair

    Portrait with Chair
This is a portrait of Harriet standing behind a chair. In the picture she is standing tall and her face looks younger so I put this picture as the second picture because out of the twelve this was ealier in her life.
  • Quote about two rights

    Quote about two rights
This quote she talks about having liberty as long as her strength allows her to. I put this picture here because I thought this was the time she was helping slaves escape to the North. I also inferred she stated this after a few trips because now she knew what she was doing, which helped me place the quote around 1850.
  • Three Hundred Dollar Reward

    Three Hundred Dollar Reward
Minty was Harriet's nickname and she and two brothers were wanted for $100 each. I put this picture here because in the text it estimates that she is about 27 so going off the year she was born I was able to guess the year 1851.
  • Harriet Pass

    Harriet Pass
This pass was written by a government official saying that she was a valuable member of the military and has access to whatever she needs. Minty served in the military for three years and knowing when the civil war was and the years when she was doing other things I was able to make a guess around what time she was helping the government and this was granting her access which I assumed she got in her first year or so.
  • Military

    Military
She served three years during the civil war for the Union Army. She served for three years in civil war and with the Harriet Pass I was able to guess when she got into the military and based on the features in her face I was able to guess the year 1866.
  • 1895 portrait

    1895 portrait
In this picture, you can see her scar that she received when she was very little. In this picture, you can see features that indicate that she is older and the caption states it was taken in 1895.
  • Elderly Harriet

    Elderly Harriet
Harriet Tubman wrapped in white in her later years. You can tell this picture was taken when she was in her final years because her face is wrinkly and she is very frail and skinny. Seeing that she is sitting and not standing I was able to infer that she was too weak another indication she was older.
  • Harriet Tubman Grave Stone

    Harriet Tubman Grave Stone
Harriets tombstone is still visited today. According to the birthplace marker she died in 1913 making her about 93 years old when she passed away. I put this picture here because it was placed after she passed away.
  • Final Portrait

    Final Portrait
The last portrait of Harriet. This was taken when she was 93 as the caption says. According to the Marker that was the age she passed away so I guessed it was 1913. I put this as the same year as the tombstone because she died in this year.
  • Birthplace Marker

    Birthplace Marker
There is a marker in Bucktown that indicates where she was born and the years she was alive from 1820-1913. I chose a later date because they probably didn't put up the sign right after she died. And was probably put up after people realized the huge impact she had on this issue.
  • Back Pay

    Back Pay
A group of students were mad when they found out that Harriet was never paid for her service in the military so they wrote a letter to Hillary Clinton. Then in 2003 a check of little over $11,000 was given to her memorial and museum as her pay check for the services she provided. I put this picture last because the picture stated the money was donated in 2003 after she had died.
