    Born into a religious family on June 14, 1811. She was was a student and became a teacher at Pierce Academy. She moved to Connecticut in 1832 and taught at another school her sister founded. She met married and had 7 children with Calvin Stowe in 1836. She wrote and published Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1850. The book caused problems in the North and South. Stowe and calvin moved to Massachusetts in 1853 then to Hartford Connecticut where they lived until Stowe passed away at age 85.
