  • Jethro Tull invents the seed drill

    Jethro Tull invents the seed drill
    His seed drill would sow seed in uniform rows and cover up the seed in the rows. Up to that point, sowing seeds was done by hand by scattering seeds on the ground. Tull considered this method wasteful since many seeds did not take root. The first prototype seed drill was built from the foot pedals of Jethro Tull's local church organ.

    The steam engine was a mechaical break through because instead having to "physicaly" do heavy lifting and stuff, they could use these engines to do the work for them.

    Charles Townshed develops four year crop rotation
    : Between the 15th and 18th centuries there was a gradual increase in the amount of land being enclosed. Enclosed literally meant that a field was surrounded by a fence or a hedge. It also meant that the enclosed field was worked as a complete unit and no longer divided into strips. The reasons for the increase in land enclosure were varied.

    The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes that occurred in the period from about 1760 to some time between 1820 and 1840. This transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, improved efficiency of water power, the increasing use of steam power and development of machine tools. The transition also included the change from wood and other bio-fuels to coal.

    Eli Whitney invents the cotton gin
    His invention was a complete succsess, people were able to produce alot more cotton then before. It also made it easy on the slaves who were doing it.

    It gave more efficent light other thatn lanterns and candels that would run out quick. The bulb would last a long time and was more efficient.

    Henry Ford invents the assembly line
    Henry Ford invented the "moving" assembly line. Which made it alot faster to produce cars. This also made him save alot of money which he also reduced the price of his cars.
