Sigmund is admitted to the Gymnasium (secondary school) a year ahead his time. -
Marriage
Given the material difficulties he is undergoing, Freud cannot dedicate himself to a career in research. He meets Martha Bernays (of family of Jewish intellectuals) and intends to get married with her. -
Psychiatric Hospital
Joins Meynert's service in the Psychiatric Hospital. -
Interpretation of Dreams
The Interpretation of Dreams is published on November 4th , subjected to publishing in 1900. The book goes unnoticed. -
Professor extraordinarius
Emperor Franz-Joseph signs Freud's appointment as professor extraordinarius . Freud stops writing to Fliess. Initiates Psychoanalytical Evening Sessions on Wednesdays. -
illness
A diagnosis is made to his jaw cancer. -
Award
Awarded the Goethe Prize. (Anna replaces him in Frankfort where reads his thanking discourse). -
Royal British Medical Society
Sigmund Freud is assigned Honorary member of the Royal British Medical Society. -
Austria's annexation
Freud's house and the headquarters of the Vienna Association of Psychoanalysis are searched. Anna Freud is arrested and interrogated by the Gestapo. Roosevelt and Mussolini intervene in Freud's favor. In June, Freud and his family emigrate to Great Britain. He continues to treat his patients. -
The Death
Freud's cancer of the jaw was causing him increasingly severe pain and had been declared to be inoperable. Anna Freud wanted to postpone her father's death, but Schur convinced her it was pointless to keep him alive and on 21 and 22 September administered doses of morphine that resulted in Freud's death around 3am on 23 September 1939
