Gunpowder plot revealed in an anonymous letter to the authorities. -
The discovery
Fawkes was discovered gaurding 36 barrels of gunpowder -> arrested. Many involved in the Gunpowder plot fled from London and the leader, Robert Catesby, was shot. -
The trial and punishment
Trial for eight of the survivors - they were convicted and sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered - very brutal death. -
Fawkes death
Before his execution Fawkes fell from the scaffold where he was going to be hanged and broke his neck to avoid the upcoming events. He died at the age of 35. -

Today we refer to guy as a man but at the times it was used as something negative, "a repulsive and ugly person" (Guy Fawkes). -

Is celebrated annually. People celebrate the death of Guy Fawkes and that the plan to assassinate king failed. -
