Fawkes was discovered gaurding 36 barrels of gunpowder -> arrested. Many involved in the Gunpowder plot fled from London and the leader, Robert Catesby, was shot.

Trial for eight of the survivors - they were convicted and sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered - very brutal death.

Before his execution Fawkes fell from the scaffold where he was going to be hanged and broke his neck to avoid the upcoming events. He died at the age of 35.
