Gregor Mendel was Born July 22, 1822 in Heinzendorf, Austria. He was the son of a peseant farmer and the grandson of a gardner. -

Benefitted by public education but a worsening financial condition made Mendel have to suspend his studies. -
Monastary
in 1843 he entered the Augustinian monastery at Brünn (now Brno). Although Mendel felt no personal vocation at the time, he believed that the monastery would provide him the best opportunity to pursue his education without the financial worries. -

This law states that each pair of genes is inherited independently of all other pairs. However, it holds true only if the characteristics are located on different chromosomes. -
