    Despite this being for the immigration wave, this was the first time Greeks had came to America. The first Greek to step foot in America was Theodoros Griego, also known as Don Teodoro.

    While immigration was much more popular in the 1900's, 500 greeks came to america and lived in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
  • The 1768 settlers move.

    The colony in New Smyrna Beach didnt last long, so they moved to St. Augustine. Here they built the oldest known and still standing Greek Orthodox building in the US, the Saint Photios Greek chapel. You can still visit it today.

    The community in new orleans had finally grown large enough to form a Greek Consulate (A place where a consul works, a consul is a government agent to sent in a foreign city to promote the goverment's ideas.) as well as a Greek Orthodox Church. AKA The Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Church.

    This is when the ship, Nea Hellas first arrived in Greece, specifically the port of Piraeus.
