    Joan of Arc
    Joan of Arc received visions from what she believed was god and became a warrior and a leader in the Hundred Years War. She lead the French Army to victory. She became a national heroine in France at the age of 18. A year later she was captured, burnt at the stake, and called a heretic. 500 years later she was deemed a saint by the Roman Catholics.     Elizabeth Blackwell
    Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to graduate from medical school. She was rejected from all of the leading medical schools at the time. She was accepted into Geneva Medical College in Geneva, New York due to facility and students believing it was a joke. When discovered it was not a joke there was outrage but she prevailed and ultimately graduated. link text

    Susan B Anthony
    Susan B Anthony came from a Quaker family. She came involved with temperance but couldn't speak at the temperance rallies. This upset her a great deal. She joined the Women's Rights Movement in 1852. She rallied for women to be able to vote. She also campaigned for women's right to own property, for women to be able to keep their own money, the abolition of slavery, and women's labor organizations. link text

    Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. She also is the only person to win this prize in two different fields. She won in both physics and chemistry. Link text

    Eleanor Roosevelt was the longest serving First Lady of the White House. She transformed the role of First Lady by being so involved in politics. She helped her husband make decisions on political issues. She was active in the Human Rights field. Link text

    Rosa Parks
    Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on the Montgomery Bus. The bus driver tried to get her to stand from her seat so a white passenger could sit down. She refused. He called the cops and had her arrested. This simple act help spur the Montgomery boycott and sparked a fire in the Civil Rights Movement. Link text
