Before 1788
The aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders were populated in 1788. There were over 700 different languages that were spoken by theses people. The aboriginal's lived in the whole of Australia and the Torres straight islanders lived between PaPa New Guinea and Australia. -

A cause of the industrial revolution is that there were overcrowded prisons in Britain that lead to having to find a new place to dump their prisoners. -
The Indistral revolution
After Britain had left America they found a new country named New Holand (Australia). When captain Arthur Philip arrived at Sydney cove in 1788 he claimed the land as the first colony in Australia. -

Over crowded prisoners
Due to over crowded prison the British had to move the convicts to the United States of america. The Americans had sent some but they had said that there was to be no more sent over, so the British found a new place at Astralia. -

In 1836 the first free settlers had arrived from Britain waited on a an island called kangaroo island while the last settlement was found. By the end of the year Adelaide had become the new centre for a colony. -

The Gold rush was a time when the discovery of gold made the country/ state become more wealthy and caused the population of Australia increase. -

In 1863 the borders had all been drawn seperate get each different state and was home to six different colonies in each state. -
1899 the gold rush
The Gold was responsible for a huge increase in the city's population. There were from 39,000 to 200,000 people in 20 years time. It had improved the transport and expensive building program made Sydney a truely metropolitan centre. -

The attraction at Queensland the tropical coast and the discovery of gold at Gympie brought new settlers into the colony. -

The gold rush became a period of a huge economic growth in Victoria with Melbourne as the centre. -

Famine: People had started to die and to survive they had to steal food to keep them selfs and their family's alive. -
