In 19149 she joined Euker-Mauchly Computer later known as Univac where she worked on Univac I which ran 1000 times faster than Mark I. -

She designed Flow-Matic to help people who aren't scientist or mathematicians, trying to do typical business task . Flow-Matic later became the basis for COBOL which was a universal language that she did not create. -

At the age of 60 after 23 years of service she retired from the Navy Reserve. -

Only 7 months after her retirement she was called back to active duty as leader of Naval Data Automation Command. -
Man of the Year
She was awarded the first ever Computer Science Man of the Year. -

She became the first person from the US and first woman of any nationality to become a Distinguished Fellow of the British Computer Society. -
Final Retirement
At the age of 79 she finally retired for the last time with the rank of Rear Admiral. Immediately after retiring she became senior consultant to Digital Equipment Corporations. -

At age 85 she passed away and was buried with full military honors in Washington.
