Citizens protesting the war in Syria are attacked by a bomber and the government allows the bomber to escape sparking outrage from citizens. A group of politicians and military specialists decide that the current government can no longer protect it's people and plan for change -
The begining
A group of liberators decide the nation needs a fresh start and begin to structurally weaken the government. Key members of the government are replaced and finally switch parts of government including branches to fit the new ideas. Loyalists to the old way begin to attack the country and are swiftly put down -
The early days
The new north american democratic republic begins takeovers on both Mexico and Canada. In these campaigns nuclear attacks were strictly forbade and after key strikes on Canadian installations Canada joins the new republic. Mexico however fights much harder leading to 5 years of wars in which forces on both sides take heavy casualties. However one final push on republic forces to push them out of the country fails and Mexico has 50,000 troops either captured or injured with 30,000 Mexican deaths -

The newly formed republic of north America enters a Golden age of technology with a united continent making advances in weaponry, travel, and medicine. This coupled with high morale from citizens spring the republic into The worlds largest superpower
