These battles were the start of the American Revolution. The colonists drove away the British and won both battles. -
The Siege of Fort Ticonderoga
The colonists had fewer than one hundred militia men under the lead of Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold when they crossed Lake Champlain at dawn to attack. They surprised the sleeping British with a sneak attack and captured Fort Ticonderoga. -
The Battle of Chelsea Creek
The Battle of Chelsea Creek was the first naval engagement of the Revolutionary War. The colonists goal was to destroy livestock going to the British, and to take their weaponry. They destroyed the British ship the Diana and took its weapons. -

The British attacked the colonists three times before succeeding in defeating the colonists. Although the British won the battle, they took heavy losses and casualties while the colonists took minimal losses in the Battle of Bunker Hill. -
Battle of Quebec
The Battle Quebec was a great loss for the colonists. They suffered heavy casualties and 400 men were captured. General Richard Montgomery was killed in the battle leaving the colonists with one less leader. -

The Battle of Long Island ended with a British victory over the colonists. It gave the British control of New York City which was a strategically important city. -
The Battle of White Plains
The Battle of White Plains was in the New York and New Jersey Campaign of the Revolutionary War. After being chased out of New York General George Washington tried to reestablish himself in White Plains but was chased to New Jersey and Pennsylvania by the British. -
The Battle of Fort Washington
The Battle was a British victory that gained the surrender of the rest of the garrison of Fort Washington. In this defeat almost 3000 Patriots were taken as prisoners of war. -
The Battle of Trenton
In the middle of the night, George Washington sailed with his army to fight against Hessian mercenaries to win a battle. They won with negligible losses and a boost in moral and confidence. -
The Battle of Princeton
The continental army sailed back through the Delaware River after the Battle of Trenton to attack British soldiers. They won a quick battle, but were forced to retreat before British reinforcements showed up. -
The Battle of Oriskany
This battle was between the Patriots and the Loyalists with Indians allying with either one. The battle was a loss for the Patriots as they had 450 casualties while Britain only had 150. -
The Battle of Bennington
A rebel force of 2,000 men led by General John Stark, and reinforced by Vermont militiamen led by Colonel Seth Warner and members of the Green Mountain Boys, decisively defeated a detachment of General John Burgoyne's army led by Lieutenant Colonel Friedrich Baum.This battle was a win for the Patriots with a big loss for the British. -
The Battle of Brandywine
British General Howe took the bulk of his troops on a long march that crossed the Brandywine far beyond Washington's right flank. Due to poor scouting, the Americans did not detect Howe's column until it reached a position in rear of their right flank.The army was forced to retreat. -

The British had formed their army into three columns. Colonel Daniel Morgan and his infantry engaged the middle column but the British kept the farm. -

The Battle of Germantown was a major engagement in the Philadelphia campaign of the American Revolutionary War. The Patriots attempted to attack the British at Germantown, but a thick fog impaired their vision and they ended up losing the battle. -

The British Army was surrounded and being sniped off by Patriot sharpshooters, and they attempted to attack. The Patriots pushed them back and then after that the British surrendered in Saratoga. -

The Battle of Camden
This was a major victory for the British in the South. General Cornwallis routed the Patriots in Camden, strengthening their hold on the Carolinas. -
The Battle of King's Mountain
A decisive victory for the Patriots, as they attacked a retreating army. The British were retreating when the Patriots attacked, and they gave the British heavy casualties. -
The Battle of Cowpens
This battle was a victory for the Patritots who proved they could defeat Beitish soldiers without geography or surprise to help them. The british suffered 800 casualties while the Patriots suffered less than 100. -
The Battle of Guilford Courthouse
The British won the battle but from a strategic standpoint the Patriots won the battle. The British force lost over a quarter of their men, while the Americans lost very few of their men. This led to a bigger loss for the British at Yorktown. -
The Battle of Eutaw Springs
This battle was considered a win for both sides. Rain stopped the battle, so the British buried their men and fled, while the Patriots chased after them. After this battle the British were pushed out of the South. -
The Battle of Yorktown
The Patriots surrounded the British forces in Yorktown, while their French allies prevented them from retreating through the seas. The British surrendered and that was the end of the Revolutionary war.
