Setting out on a gold rush trail in, Canada, summertime WWII -
Expositon Three (Characters)

Billy (Main character, 12 years old)
Tom (Boatsman) -
Rising Action (CONFLICT)
Boatsman, Tom Thunder, tookm kids on his boat, Edna is disquised as a boy. They call her Ed. -
Rising Action 1
Were told that they wouldn't have enough grub to last. -
Rising Action 2
Saved Jack Purdy from drowning. -
Rising Action 3
Canadian officer wasn't going to let two of them into Canada because they didn't have enough food. Jack Purdy saved them by saying they had sent food through earlier. -
Rising Action 4
Crossed over into Canada with Jack Purdy helping them. They can tell winter was coming because of the temperature drop. -
Rising Action 5
Finally they all catch up with Pa. -
Rising Action 6
Pa, Ed, Billy, and Jack Purdy all build up a boat to get across Stewart River. -
Rising Action 7
Billy hurts his ankle when he swings the boat around and falls to the ground. He is unable to walk on it, they fear it could be bad. -
Rising Action 8
They find a dead man's cabin. It has supplies and is good to live in. They bury the dead man and stay there awhile. -
Climax
They find sled dogs that they believe belonged to the dead man. They use them to travel to and from the town to ask about the anonymous dead man, who no one knows. -
Falling Action 1
Billy really starts to get attached to the lead dog, Percy. Her uses her for comfort and Pa says they have to sell her. Billy leaves for awhile with Percy but comes back and decides to be strong. Pa promises that if they make enough money he will buy her back for him. -
Falling Action 2
Ms. Mulrooney lets Billy start doing work arounf her hotel for some food. He is also her "ears" and tells her things he hears the customers say that might benefit her, like where gold could be. -
Falling Action 3
Billy overhears a man named Axel talking about a place where he thinks a river used to flow that might be rich. He decides not to tell Ms. Mulrooney and tells his folks. -
Falling Action 4
The family strikes gold where Axel was talking about and everyone seems to be happy. Billy is upset that Pa is not yet buying Ma's gravestone and Percey back. Ed and Jack seem to be getting close and that upsets Billy as well. -
Resolution 1
Billy takes five gold nuggets and and heads to Skagway with Mr. Garr to get a grave stone for his ma. -
Resolution 2
Billy and all the dogs fall into the river when the ice breaks. All the dogs except Percey drown, and Billy spends the rest of his golden nuggets to buy her back and decides to continue on the Skagway and get a job to get the gravestone. -
Resolution 3
Billy gets a job when he finally arrives in Skagway as a news reporter for the Alaskan Newspaper. He is able to afford a wooden grave marker for his ma, so he buys that. -
Resolution 4
Newspaper shut down because the owner got in trouble for being part of a gang. -
Resolution 5
Edna Rose came looking for Billy. They went to the court house and Billy got Jack Purdy out of trouble b testifying that he was innocent. He was not part of the gang. Billy ends up not sure whether or not he will return to work with his family.
