    Christopher Columbus Sailed the Ocean Blue
    He sailed in search of a western sea route to Asia. His goal was to find a way to facilitate trade after the Silk Road was closed.

    Treaty of Tordesillas

    This treaty divided the newly discovered lands outside of Europe between Portugal and the Crown of Castile.
