The Truman Doctrine was announced by the President, this was a policy to keep communism from spreading to those countries that were politically unstable. -
Marshall Plan
They feared that other factors such as poverty created by World War II would ultimately lead Europe to converting to a communist government. Because of this the American government invested about 13 billion dollars in rehabilitating Western Europe through the Marshall Plan. -
First Levittown
The largest housing project in American History was being built by entrepreneur William J Levitt. On about a thousand acres of land, ( Long Island ) Levitt builds 17,000 homes to help out 82,000 people.
