14th Amendment
The 14th Amendment to the US Constitution grants citizenship to anyone born in the United States and guarantees due process and equal protection of the laws. It serves as the basis for applying the rights specified in the US Constitution to the states. -
Civil Rights Act of 1875

Earthquake Hits Charleston
This was the most damaging earthquake to occur in the Southeast United States and one of the largest historic shocks in Eastern North America. It damaged or destroyed many buildings in the old city of Charleston and killed 60 people. This earthquake was reported from distant places such as Boston, Massachusetts; Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Chicago, Illinois; Cuba and Bermuda. -
American Federation of Labor
The American Federation of Labor (AFL) was the first federation of labor unions in the United States. Samuel Gompers of the Cigar Makers' International Union was elected president of the Federation at its founding convention and was reelected every year except one until his death in 1924. Tillman is in office
Although Tillman fully expected to win, he warned that should he be defeated by ballot-box stuffing, there would be war.[69] On Election Day in November 1890, Tillman was elected governor with 59,159 votes to 14,828 for Haskell. Tillman was sworn in as governor of South Carolina in Columbia on December 4, 1890, before a crowd of jubilant supporters, the largest to see South Carolina's governor inaugurated since Hampton's swearing-in. -

Great Storm of 1893
The hurricane struck the south coast at high tide on August 28, pushing an enormous storm surge ahead of it and creating a "tidal wave" that swept over and submerged whole islands. At least 2,000 people lost their lives, and an estimated 20,000-30,000 were left homeless and with no mean of subsistence. -

The 21st amendment repealed the 18th amendment. Alcohol wasn't banned anymore
