This was important because it was the turning point for the control being held by Nazi Germany. This invasion was one of the largest military assaults in history. It required large scale plannings on both sides. The Normandy Landings have been calling "the beginning of the end of the war." -

The Holocaust was created by Adolf Hitler. The purpose of this was to exterminate all of the Jews. Hitler blamed the Jews for their loss in World War II, so he created the camps. -

This battle broke the Nazi-Soviet Pact between Germany and the Soviet Union. The Russian winters had a major impact on Germany's armed forces. It was also considered a turning point for the Allies. -

This battle marked the last German offense on the Western Front. Germany attempted to create a wedge on Allied lines, but failed. This resulted in an Allied victory. -
Treaty of Versailles
This treaty put a stop to World War I, but had a major impact on World War II. The Germans believed that the Jews were the cause of their loss in World War I.They also believed that the treaty was ineffectual. -
Nuremberg Trials
This was a series of 13 trails. Their goal was to punish the people of Nazi Germany. In particular it was to punish the people who created the idea of the Holocaust. -
Adolf Hitler's Death
Adolf Hitler committed suicide in 1945. There were several assassination attempts aimed towards Hitler while he was in charge, but they always failed. His suicide caused him to never be brought to trail for his terrible crimes. -
Nazi-Soviet Pact
This was an agreement pact between Germany and the Soviet Union. They agreed to have no military actions against each other. This failed when Germany invaded the Soviet Union during the Battle of Stalingrad. -
Germany surrenders
Germany surrendered on May 7, 1945. Allied soldiers found out about Germany's surrender while reading Star and Stripes military newspaper. This marked the end of Germany's involvement in World War II.
