Zollverein is created
Zollverein is created by the Prussian government. It was a customs union that created free-trade areas around most of Germany. This started with eighteen states. It led to Prussia being able to defeat the German states economically. -

Rioting began in Berlin. Revolutionaries spread from Austria to Prussia. At first, the revolutions were supported by Friedrich Wilhelm IV (King of Prussia). Then, he called in the Prussian Army to supress the breakouts. This led to a nationalist in Germany. -

Klemens von Metternich is forced to resign from office in Austria. The citizens were in favor of this change. -

The National Assembly begins. The goals of the meeting included creating a unified Germany with Prussia and Austria. 596 liberals from the German Confederation attended the event. -

The Frankfurt Assembly issued the Declaration of Rights of the German People. -

The Frankfurt Parliament creates a constitution for Germany. The goal was to build a german state that was completelty unified. -
Crown of Germany rejected
Friedrich Wilhelm IV rejects the crown of Germany. He stated that he would not accept becuase the Assembly has no right to offer him the position without getting permission from the German government. -
The Frankfurt Parliament ends
The Frankfurt Parliamnet ends because the Prussian King did not accept the German crown. -
King Friedrich IV replaced
King Friedrich Wilhelm IV is replaced by his brother, Christian. -
Otto von Bismarck made Prime Minister
Otto von Bismarck is made Prime Minister of Prussia. He reconstructs the Prussian Army. -
Austria and Prussia go to war.
Austria and Prussia go to war together against Denmark. It turned out that Austria claimed land (Holstein) that was surrounded by Prussia. Prussia collapsed the Austrian Army and forced Austria to remove itself from all German affairs after they fought over who would rule. -
Denmark surrenders
Denmark surrenders against Prussia and Austria. -
Spanish crown offered to Prince Leopold
Spanish crown is offered to Prince Leopold. France became offened and in turn, Friedrich Wilhelm IV pursuaded Leopold to step down. -
Freance declares war
France declares war on Prussia. -
France is defeated
France is defeated by Prussia and nepoleon III is captured. -
German Empire declared
The German Empire is declared at the Palace of Versailles. Germany was created with the merge of all German states except Austria. Wilhelm I is crowned Chancellor. -
France ends war with Prussia
France signs agreement to end war against Prussia. -
Treaty is signed
Treaty involving France and Prussia (Treaty of Frankfurt) is signed. France has to pay Germany $200 million. -
League of Three Emporers is created
The League of Emporers is created. This group was made by the German Empire, Russian Empire and Austria-Hungary. The goal was to alert eachother in times of war and create peace. This alliance did not last long brcause their were limitations.
