Napoleon invaded German lands in 1806, in hopes to conquer them and take control of them for France. He broke Germany into small annexed pieces that were part of France's government. -

The Congress of Vienna wanted to make Europe peaceful and stable again. They also wanted to re-establish the estate system and put the monarchies that were overthrown back into power. The people of Germany asked the Congress to unify the German states into one country, but the Congress rejected the idea. -

Prussia, lead by Bismarck attacked France which made the rest of the German ally with them. Bismarck was able to defeat France because they had better weapons and a better trained army. -

When Bismarck was able to unify all of Germany he created the second reich. Germany would stay unified until the 1900s. -

Bismarck's constitution was the basic law of the German states. Bismarcks constitution continued to be the law of the German state until the 1900s. -

German states industrialized which allowed for a population growth. The population grew which allowed for a biiger work force and army. -

Bismark ordered the German people to stop believing in the Catholic church. Most of the population agreed with hom but some of the population didn't. People who didn't go with Bismarck's plan, were arrested. -

After 10 years of being a prime minister, Bismarck became chancellor. As chancellor, Bismarck was the highest level of monarchy and used it to help unite Germany. -
William I of Prussia Becomes Emperor
William agreed with most of Bismarck's ideas and became the king of Prussia in 1872.He was nice and polite unlike Bismarck. -
Campaign against the Socialists
Bismarck was against the socialists so he launched an anti-socialist campaign to abolish socialism. He was not able to abolish socialism but he did convince many people that socialism was bad. -
William II becomes Kaiser
William was appointed be Bismarck as King of Germany. William was the last German emperor. -
House of Krupp
The Krupp family founded a steel making company that helped improve the German economy. Without the Krupp, the German economy wouldn't be as good and there would be economic struggles. -
Economic Development
With the population growth, the economy inproved because there was a bigger working class and many companies became rich. The Krupp company helped increase the German economy. -
Bismarck Resigns
Bismarck was old and wanted to live the rest of his years in peace and not in power so he resigned. He allowed William II to lead Prussia after he resigned.
