-
Hitlers plan for the future
Hitler met with his top advisers. He declared in order for Germany to grow and prosper as a nation, they needed to conquer its neighbors. (Austria and Czechoslovakia) He planned to absorb them into the Third Reich. -
Union of Austria
Hitler created an union with Austria, which expanded the lands of Germany. The United States and the rest of the world did nothing about this pact. Around the same time, Hitler tried breaking up Czechoslovakia and made unions with those who sided with his country. Hitler tried adding false news to make Czechoslovakia look bad. -
Munich Agreement
When Edward Daladier and Neville Chamberlain first arrived Munich to meet with Hitler. Hitler declared that annexing Sudetenland would be his last territorial demand. To avoid war, they signed and turned the land over to Germany. -
Axis countries formed
In May, Germany and Italy signed a major treaty of alliance, and Hitler’s representatives had begun conducting important trade talks with the Soviets. -
German Offensive Begins
Hitler took over what remained of Czechoslovakia. Then, he decided to head over to the east. His next goal was Poland. -
One of the first failed attempt to stop the Nazi's
France and Britain agreed they'd defend Poland from the Nazi's. Those two countries thought they could receive support from the Soviet Union, but the secret pact signed gave advantage to Hitler and his dream expansion. Eventually, this defense failed because Hitler took over Poland. -
Takeover in Poland
The German Luftwaffe roared over Poland and dropped bombs everywhere. Simultaneously, tanks rolled over the countryside and surprised Poland. Germany introduced blitzkrieg strategies where Germany would attack so fast nobody could react. By the end of the month, Poland was now Germany's and WWII started. -
Beginning of the War
France and Great Britain declared war on Germany after Germany invaded Poland. Earlier, France and Great Britain agreed to defend Poland and this was supposed to scare away Hitler, but he didn't back down. Instead, he challenged them, and the war followed -
Secret Pact
Between Germany and the Soviet Union, they agreed to eat away at Poland and to not fight each other. This allowed Nazi Germany to expand with no threat of being attacked by its close, powerful neighbor, the Soviet Union. To the public, all they knew that both countries decided not to fight each other for a decade -
Invasion of Denmark and Norway
Launched a surprise invasion to "Protect freedom" of those countries. What Hitler really wanted was to build defenses along the coasts because he wanted to attack Great Britain. -
Expansion Stopped
Hitler realized he had no hope when he was losing the war so he killed himself which lead to the fall of Nazi Germany. Germany surrendered and most land gained during the expansion was lost just like WW1.
