Italy and Spain join the Anti-Comintern Pact
When Italy and Spain joined the Anti-Comintern Pact, what would later be known as the Axis Powers first started. The pact was signed in Berlin and formed to prevent communism in the countries that joined it, most of which were mostly fascist. This included Germany (Adolf Hitler), Japan (Hideki Tojo), and Italy (Benito Mussolini), while Francisco Franco of Spain didn't sign the Pact until the 7th of April. -
Adolf Hitler releases Nazis that were imprisoned in Austria
Hitler finally seems to have gotten total control of Germany, and will now use his complete authority to show that he can essentially force countries into doing whatever he wants them to do. -
Austria is declared to be part of the German Reich
This was a bug turning point as it showed that Germany was beginning to become a powerhouse, ready to consume any countries that it wanted to. -
Munich Agreement
This agreement was an attempt from the League of Nations to try and appease Germany, in order to stop Hitler from invading and annexing Czechoslovakia. -
The Night of Broken Glass
Around the time when Germany was really starting to crack down on their separation of Jewish people from the rest of the population, they carried out "Kristallnacht", otherwise known as the Night of Broken Glass. On this day, over 7,500 Jewish shops were destroyed and 400 synagogues burnt down. -
The Nazi-Soviet Pact is formed
Germany and Russia form a neutral relationship through this pact. -
Germany invades Poland
Germany invading Poland was a clear sign that World War II had truly taken a hold of Europe. People began to fear Germany and it's policies. -
Britain and France declare war on Germany
Finally, after witnessing the atrocities Germany is committing, countries are finally starting to take a stand against Hitler and his corrupted dictatorship. -
Poland is declared part of the German Reich
During this time, the Jewish population in Poland was decreasing quickly due to extremely harsh treatment and abuse from the Nazi soldiers. -
The German Army invades Paris
Because the French defenses were so easily pierced by the German army, France panics and quickly begins to start negotiating armistices with Germany to avoid further fighting on French ground.
