  • Hossbach Memorandum

    Hossbach Memorandum
    Hitler secretly met with top military leaders with plans to expand the Third Reich by taking Austria and Czechoslovakia under German control in an effort to "unite all German speaking regions into one empire."
  • Germans Enter Austria

    Germans marched into Austria unopposed. One day later, the union of the two countries was complete. No other country interviened with these affairs.
  • Munich Agreement

    Daladier & Chamberlain agreed to sign the Munich Agreement which peacefully turned the Sudetenland (Hitler's last territorial demand) over to Germany.
  • Invasion of Czechoslovakia

    Invasion of Czechoslovakia
    As Churchill warned, Didier & Chamberlain signing the treaty did not stop Hitler. German troops invaded the little remnants of Czechoslovakia during the night to expand the Third Reich.
  • Non-aggression Pact

    Non-aggression Pact
    Arch enemies Hitler & Stalin agreed to sign the non-aggression pact to declare they will never attack each other. However, in secret, Germany and the Soviet Union also signed a pact to divide Poland between the two, declaring the fate of Poland.
  • Blitzkrieg in Poland

    Blitzkrieg in Poland
    On September 1, 1939, Germany began its invasion of Poland. They used their Air Force to bomb military bases, airfields, railroads, and cities. The invasion was the first time of the military strategy called a blitzkrieg. The tactic worked and they were able to invade Poland. By the end of September Poland was gone and WWII began.

    Germany invades Denmark and Norway
    Hitler orders an attack on Denmark and Norway. German warships enter major Norwegian ports, where thousands of German troops occupied Norway. While this was happening, German forces occupy Copenhagen. Denmark surrenders on this day while Norway continued to fight back.
  • France Surrenders to Germany

    France Surrenders to Germany
    Six weeks after the Nazis launched their attack on Western Europe, the government of France signed an armistice with Nazi Germany in the forest of Compiègne. The treaty stated that hostilities between the two nations would terminate six hours after the signing of an armistice treaty between France and Italy.
  • RAF Fights Back

    RAF Fights Back
    When attacked, the RAF fought back brilliantly. Britain was able to guess the flight paths of British pilots. They shot down over 185 German planes.
