Italy entered the war supporting Germany and invaded France from the south. While the Germans invaded from the north and closed in on Paris. On this day, the French surrendered. France started becoming a Nazi controlled puppet-government. -
Germans assemble invasion fleet
The Germans began to assemble an invasion fleet on the coast of France. This is because Germans could not compete with Britain's naval power and they also launched an air war on Britain. About 2,000 German planes ranged over Britain every night for two months bombing London.
