Hitler Makes A Plan
Hitler secretly met with the advisors of his military. During this meeting, Hitler declared that to grow and prosper, Germany needed the land of its neighbors (Austria and Czechoslovakia). Some of Hitlers army believed that by doing this, war would be the result, but Hitler said "The German Question" can only be solved by using forces. -
German Troops Invade Austria
Hitler's first target to expand was Austria. Hitler's army was unmatched because Austria did not have an army assembled. This invasion was easily successful because a majority of Austrian citizens were Germans who wanted to be unified. the rest of the world did not try to attempt preeventing this. -
German Troops Invade Czechoslovakia
Hitler was not satisfied about the expansion so far. He desided to have German troops invade Czechoslovakia to take over. Hitler bragged "Czechoslovakia has ceased to exist". -
The Munich Agreement
Knowing that France and Great Britian promised to protect Czecholslovakia Hitler invited the French primiere Edouard Daladier and British prime minister Neville Chamberlin for a meeting to prevent war. The Munich Agreement consists of the Sudetenland being turned over to Germany. This happened without any violence because both Daladier and Chamberland wanted to avoid war and believed Hitler. -
Promise Between Fasist Germany and Communist Russia
Stalin signed the nonaggression pact which stated that the two nations would not go to war. This agreement wasd with Hitler. Along with this, another pact was signed between the two secretly which stated that Poland would be divided between them. -
German Luftwaffe Roar Over Poland
The German Luftwaffe stormed over Germany, dropping bombs. The Luftwaffe is the German airforce. The Luftwaffe dropped bombs on military bases, railroads, airfields and cities. Simutaniously, the German military raced tanks across Poland. This created widespread terror. -
War Is Declared on Germany
After the occurance of blitzkrieg, Poland, Britain and France declared war on Germany. In the blitzkrieg attack, Germany used new military technology such as tanks and more powerful aircraft. The effect of the attack was very harsh. -
Suprise Attack in Denmark and Norway
On this day, Hitler ordered his army to invade Denmark and Norway in a suprise attack. Hitler claimed tha this was to "protect freedom and indepandance". Little did they know, Hitler had a plan to put military bases on Great Britain's coasts to attack them also. -
Hitler Offers Terms of Surrender
Hitler offered terms of surrender to the Frenchofficers on this day. This was whitnessed by the world. These terms included the northern part of France being occupied by Germany and Nazi-controlled government. -
Germans Assemble an Invasion
Hitler again planned another invasion. The Germans would invade France in the summer of 1940. Simutainiously, Germany started an air war. The Luftwaffe dropped numerous bombs across Great Britain.
