German Expansion

  • Planning his First Attack

    Hitler met secretly with his top military advisers. He declared that to grow and prosper he needed land from his neighbors. His plan was to absorb Austria and Czechoslovakia in the 3rd Reich. He did planned to do this forcefully, taking whatever he wanted.
  • His First Attack

    On march 12, 1938, German troops marched into Austria unopposed. A day later, Germany announced that its union with Austria was complete.
  • Peaceful Agreement

    On September 30 , 1938, the Sudetenland General signed the Munich Agreement, which turned their land directly over to Germany without firing a single shot.
  • The Attack of Czechoslovakia

    As Churchill had warned, Hitler was not yet finished expanding the Third Reich. As dawn broke on March 15, 1939, German troops poured into what remained of Czechoslovakia. at nightfall, German forces destroyed Czechoslovakia and started his plot to take over.
  • Planning to take over Poland

    In the spring of 1939, Hitler began his familiar routine, charging that Germans in Poland were being mistreated by the poles and needed his protection. People thought he was bluffing as it may start a war with Polands eastern neighbor, the Soviet Union and/or France and/or Great Britain.
  • Nonaggression act

    On August 23,1939, racist Germany and Communist Russia signed the Nonaggression Act, never to attack each other again.
  • War on the U.S.

    A week after Pearl Harbor, Hitler officially declares war on the United States, bringing America out of its neutral stance and into the war in Europe.
  • Jewish Labor Camps

    Instead of killing the Jewish race, the Germans decide to put them in brutal labor camps where they will complete building projects. Any Jew who is unfit to work or has completed their job will be killed.
  • Concentration Camps in Denmark

    After having Denmark for 3 years, Hitler orders the arrest and deportation of nearly 8,000 Danish Jews to concentration camps where over the next several months will be killed.
  • Attempted Assassination

    German Commander Claus von Stauffenberg attempts to kill hitler while the furrier was attending a high level military meeting. They plan to take over the German army and make peace but their plan fails and the 4 men involved are all killed.
  • His Suicide

    Wakes up, walks down to his bunker and simply shoots himself in the face. His body is found, doused in gasoline and burned in his sacred garden.
