The Paleo period developed from the Asain migration. They were nomadic, hunter grathers, and constantly moving following the food source.They used spear heads as weapons.The paleos hunted and ate mammoth, bison, ground sloth,and larger game animals. They had no organized trade or religion. -

Archaic

The Archaics migrated by seasons and came back to the same areas. They lived in caves, pithouses, and underground shelter. They became more reliant on groups. They made simple pottery, and used smaller/thinner spear heads for samller game animals, like deer turkey,and fish. The Archaics gathers nuts and berries. There is still no sign of organized religion of trade. -

Woodland
1,000 BC to 1,000 AD
During this time period the Woodlands started to form tribes and they no longer were nomadic. They started living in moore perminent areas such as round houses that still ressemble huts. They dont use much pottery but they do use it. The woodlands designed a simple bow and arrow. This group also experiments with forming sunflowers, squash, beans, maize, and also hunts small game animals. There is some evidence of trade but not organized and some religous belongings. -

Hernando de soto was a spanish explorer. He came to georgia in search of gold but didnt find any. In this process he kiled thousands of lives and brought many diseases which killed many more. ( The date of this event is when Hernando de soto was in Georgia) -
Georgia Founded
The man who founded Georgia was From england. His name was James Edward Olethrope. He named Georgia in honor of King George the second. They came into contact with some Yamacraw Indians who were very friendly to them. The indians gave them permission to build Georgia. -

Salzburgers Arrive
The Salzburgers were exiled from there home country because they were protestents. They arrived in Georgia on March 12th 1734. King George invited them to Georgia to escape the Catholic Church. The Salzburgers formed the city Ebenezer but left because the location was harsh, They formed a new Ebenezer and were succesful on building Georgias first and oldest church. -
Highland Scotts Arrive
The Highland Scotts were conditioned to a hard life in the Highland of Scottlands. On January 10th 1736 they arrived in Georgia to be protection for the colony against the Spanish. They settled on the Altamaha river creating the city of Darien. -

Henry Ellis
Ellis was Georgias second Governor. He was the best Governor out all three. He maintained a good relationship with the Creek Indians. During his time as Governor population grew to 10,000 with 3,600 slaves. During the French Indian War Ellis kept peace with the Creeks. Ellis had many major accomplishments. -

James Wright
Wright was Georgias Third Governor and final governor. Wrights term lasted the longest out of all three governors. Wright expanded forms and trade. He also forfited savannah's defense. The amount of land owned increased from 1M to 7M. Wright also helped create Georgias first newspaper. His second major errors were when he tried to take the capitol away from Savannah and he enforced The Stomp Act regardless of opinions. -
Eli Whitney and the cotton gin

Eli Whitney invinted the Cotton gin, wich made it easier to get the seeds out of cotton. When this inventioon was used by farmers the slave population increased and cotton becamee Georgia's Major and Main Crop. Georgia only planted cotton for a few more years and imported the goods they needed like food. -

The Missouri Cimromise was an attempt at keeping slave states and states balanced. For Missouri to become a slave state, Maine would have to become a free state. Union Blockade of Georgia

Shermans Atlanta Campaign
Sherman took 112,000 soilders left in Chatonooga and began a campaign towards Atlants. Johnston has 60,000 troops to hold back Shermans Army. The two armys fought again and again and eventually the Union Army left Atlata in Flames. -

Atlanta hosted the summer olympic games. The event was the largest in the citties history. The goal of Atlanta hosting the Olympic Games was to promole Atlantas image as an International city. Preperations for the Olympics took over 6 years and spent more than 5.14 billion. -
