the reason Salzburgers came to Georgia was because they where kicked out of Europe for not being catholic. Oglethorpe accepted the salzburgers. Ebeneezer was there first settlement but they couldn't live off of it because of the mosquitoes. So Oglethorpe took them to another place and they called it New Ebeneezer. And the Salburgers had religious freedom from Europe. -
Highland Scotts arrive
The highland scotts were recruited to come to Georgia. The scotts came from the highlands of Scottland thus giving them the name of the Highland Scotts. They where strong soldiers, unafraid, and they where able to live off the land. Where they settled they called it Darien. The purpose of the highland scotts were to help protect the colony in case the Spanish in Florida where to attack. -
Austin Dabney
Austin Dabney was a slave who fought against the British in the American revolutionary war. He was born a slave in Wake County, North Carolina, sometime in the 1760s. He moved with is master, Richard Aycock, to Wilkes County, Georgia, in the late 1770s. -

Georgia Ratifies Constitution
No one knew, but it was sure to be a tough fight. Georgia called a special convention in Augusta to consider the proposed charter. The delegates voted unanimously to ratify the new U.S. Constitution, the fourth state to do so, on January 2, 1788, Today in Georgia History.
