Henry Grady
Henry Grady was a journalist who helped in the reintegration of the states that were apart of the confederacy during the civil war into the union. He created the saying "New South". New South didn't rely on just agriculture they had industries as well. -
Plessy V. Ferguson
Plessy was one eighths African-American and seven eighths white. He challenged the segregation legislation by refusing to move from the whites railcar and got put in jail. He took his case to the court and the ruled against him saying" as long as they are equal it is constitutional to be separate". -
1906 Atlanta Riot
This was the attack of armed white men and women on the blacks in Atlanta Georgia. This all happened because of separate reports accusing African-Americans rapping 4 white women. -
WEB DuBois
W.E.B DuBois wanted equal rights for African-Americans. He thought they shouldn't settle for low paying jobs; he thought that they should all have college education and that they should speak out against discrimination. He formed the NAACP. -

World war 1
During World War one Georgia contributed greatly and the war benefited them by putting many Georgians to work. They contributed by training soldiers(about 100,000 Georgia's served in the armed forces), increasing their cotton and textile production to make clothes, bandages, and etc. , producing great amounts of food for the troops, and making victory gardens. -
Leo Frank Case
Leo Frank a Jewish man wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of Mary Phagan. He was taken out of jail by a mob and hung. -
Booker T. Washington
He wanted equal rights for African-Americans and he thought you should just accept your role and work hard at any job you can find to gain equality. He founded Tuskegee institute for African-Americans. -

There was a problem and that was the people weren't playing a big enough role in the government like the needed to be. They fixed this problem by passing the Neil Primary act. The system allowed smaller counties have the same amount of influence as bigger counties. -

Alonzo Herndon was a former slave that sarted multiple businesses in America. He started Atlanta life Insurance company. -

The Great Depression hit Georgia hard because they just had the boll wevil destroy their cotton industry and the drought which destroyed Georgia's crop production. -

During World War Two Georgia contributed
a lot by building 15 new military installations, training many soldiers for the war, making B-29s for the air force, and making "liberty" ships for the war. As bad as it sounds this war also helped Georgia because it put many of people to work. -
Agricultural Adjustment Act
This was a part of FDRs New Deal plan. The plan was to regulate agricultural products by paying farmers to produce less for the farmers to make a profit. -

This was a part of FDRs New Deal plan. This put young men to work by conserving natural resources, planting trees, and building flood controls. -

Richard Russell was a Georgia senate who chaired in two major wars. He gained a great amount of influence on U.S. military policy. -

Carl Vinson was one of the longest serving member and was often known as the "father of the two ocean navy." -

This was a part of FDRs New Deal plan. Social security administration insures that income will be providing for those who are elderly, disabled, and unemployed. -
Rural Electrification
This was a part of FDRs New Deal plan. The Rural Electrification Act ensured that rural farms had electricity by encouraging companies to build power lines in rural areas. -
Lead-Lease Act
This act allowed the United States of America to send supplies to any country to help with security. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese bombed the U.S naval fleet in Hawaii to get the U.S. influence out of the pacific area. This brought United States into the world war two. -
Eugene Talmadge
Eugene Talmadge was a Georgia governor who didn't support president Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal plan.
