    Hernando de Soto

    Hernando de Soto
    Hernando de Soto entered Georgia in search of gold.Hernando didn't find the gold.Hernando de Soto captured and killed thousands of natives making them his slaves.He gave them disesase which killed some of them. He failed finding the gold but he did kill many of natves.

  • Charter of 1732

    King George granted this to Oglethrope's group as trustees for establishing the colony of georgia and for managing it for 21 years. Catholics, blacks, liquor dealers, and lawyers could not become colonist. The colony belongs to the crown, so the trustees got instructions from King George. Unless the king agreed, no laws could be passed.

  • Georgia Founded By Oglethorpe

    Oglethorpe proposed a colony to the poor. Economic, charity, and defense was the three reasons he built the colony. He was helping the people in debtors prison and the worthy poors. He also built it for defense against the spanish and french.

  • Salzburgers arrive in Georgia

    The Salzburgers arrived from Austria fir religious reasons. They were being peersecuted by the Catholics in Europe. James Oglethorpe provided them with land and then named it Ebenezer. They moved because the land was not good, and named their new home New Ebenezer.

    The Highland Scotts were grown men recruited to defend the new colony.They was recruited to defened the colony from spanish and french.They were settled in derrien.

    John Reynolds

    John Reynolds was a part of the royal georgia. He did not do a good job. Mayor Reynolds had no political experience and skills necaessary tobe a mayor. Seeing how horrible he was doing, Lord Halifax recalled him as mayor and he was replaced.

    Henry Ellis

    Henry Ellis was the next mayor of georgia. He was better then Mayor John. He only left office cause of his poor health and sickness. Mayor Ellis was replaced with someone who was almost like him.

    James Wright was the replacement for Mayor ellis. He understood colonianl government, since he served as South Carolina Attorney General. He left geogria aboard the HMS ~Scarborough~

  • Universty of Georgia Established

    Georgia established UGA as americas first state supported universty. It was a land grant universty. The state gov't provided the land. Abraham baldwin was the 1st President of UGA. UGA was built five years before Athen city was made. Athens ,Ga because it was the center of learning in Georgia.

  • Capital Moves From Augusta To Louisville

    The capital Savannah moves to Loisville. They move west to stay centralized georgraphically. They also move based on population. The state house opened in may 1795. It was named in honor of King Louis XVI of France.

  • Missouri Compromise

    missouri Compromise was passed march 3, 1820. Because it was passed, Missouri became apart of the slave states and Maine became apart of the free states.

  • Kansas–Nebraska Act

    This act went agaisnt the Missouri Compromise. It was created by Democratic Senator Stephen A. Douglas. This act was to open up many new farms, but we had an issues making it a slave or free state.

    Dread Scott was trying to claim free, because he thought since he had lived in a free state he was free. The court told him he couldnt go to court because he was an african american. He was sent back to the slave state and was still a slave.

    Shermans march to the sea was a mighty move in the war. It began in atlanta and ended in savannah. As General Sherman and his amry walked throguh georgia they destryoed anything in their way.

    This amendment was passed december 6, 1865. It was made to free all and any slave in america.

    The Jim Crow Laws were a racial segreagation it was to keep the whites from marrying anyone besides whites. It was also to keep the blacks and whites from working together.

    Austin was a mulatto slave. A mulatto person is a person born from a Caucasian parent and a African parent. He became a private in the georgia military.

    The atlanta riot is where many blacks were killed by white mobs. The reason it began is because the whites and blacks were starting to have more population. The whites didnt like that it would be more competiton over jobs.

  • Leo Frank Case

    The Leo Frank Case was a mystery that the answer is unsolvable to.Mary Phagan,14 year old girl was murdered, a jew and a black man was blamed.Leo frank a jew was convicted of murdering Mary Phagan. He claimed that it wasn't him. Soon Jim Conley started to look real guilty. Before we could ever find out the truth Leo Frank was hung to death.

    The holocaust was the begin of a horrible life for the jews. A man named Adolf Hitler had a hatred for the jews so much he killed over 6 million. The Holocaust was where many jews were gassed and killed and shot and many more terrible things. it was a very terrible time for all jews in germany.
