    For a brief period of time in 1947 georgia had three governors. Eugena Talmadge won election to a fourth term as Georgia's governor in 1946, but died before his inauguration. To fill the vacany Eugene's son, Herman was appointed by state legislature.

    Brown v. Board of Education was one of the cornerstones of the civil rights movement, and helped establishted the precedant that "separtaten but equal." In 1896 the supreme court ruled in plessy v. ferguson that racially segregaten and public's facilities were legal, so long as the facilities for blacks and whites were equal.
