A group of men land on the banks of Virginia's James River. Jamestown was later going to be the first permanent Colony. -
John Smith Returns
John Smith becomes ill and is forced by health issues to return to England. -
John Smith dies
John Smith dies in England four years after returning from Jamestown. -
First Elected Assembly
Jamestown held the first elected assembly in 1619. -
The Pilgrims land
The Pilgrims land in Cape Cod. They later travel to Plymouth which is a rocky harbor that has a huge rock they called Plymouth Rock. -
Thanksgiving
The Pilgrims have the first thanksgiving with the native tribe. They invited the Chief, Squanto and other Natives. -
King Charles Gives Land
King Charles gives land to William Penn in the New World. The king gave him land because he owed a debt to William's father. -
Pennsylvania
William Penn founds Pennsylvania. Sylvania means forest land and Penn is William's last name. That is how Pennsylvania was named.
