Slavery Abolished
Slavery was abolished in 1865, and the Carver's legally adopted George and gave him their last name. -

George transferes from Simpson to Iowa State to study the sciences. -

Booker T. Washington
Booker T. Washington persuades George to work with him at Washington Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He did some expirements and soon mafe the suggestion that beans, peanuts, and sweet potatoes would be a good replacement for cotton. -

He revealed his expirements, and increasing Southern Farmers used them for income. -
Elected
George was elected to Britians Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers, and Commerce. -
Farmer's Bill
Congress ways and means comittee asked him to help decide whether to pass a Farmer's supported Bill that would impose tariffs on peanuts. -
Spingarns Medal
Received the Spingarns Medal. -
Soy Beans
George invents a process for producing stains and paints from soy beans. -
Awards
George receives amedal for saving Southern Agriculture. -
Donations
George donates his life savings to establish the George Washington Carver Foundation. -
Death
Geroge Washington Carver dies of Anemia after Presdient Roosevelt honors him by dedicating a national monument to him. It was the first monument for an African American. -
