Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as neighboring states, in August 2005. President Bush was heavily criticized for his poor handling of the natural disaster, including the length of time it took for him to send aid. -

After leaving office, President Bush and his wife returned to Texas where Bush began work on his memoirs. Decision Points was the memoir written by President Bush and released in 2010. -
