Genie is found by child services and police. She is 13 and has been locked in a room and tied to a potty chair for all of her life. She has been living in isolation. She can't talk and walked strangely. She acted like an animal. -

Genie is admitted to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. Doctors and psychologists look over her and run tests. -

Genie makes progress
Genie goes to live with her doctor at the hospital but then goes to live with the scientists from the research team. Genie is progressing and is slowly saying words and showing emotion. She is making connections with people and starting to live a normal life. -
Genie goes home
Genie,18, goes to live with her mother. Her mother quickly discovers that she can't take care of her. -
Genie regresses
Genie is removed from her mother's home and is put into a foster institution (she will go to several over time). Because of Genie's unstable living situation and lack of help, her language skills diminish completely and her physical health deteriorates.
