  • First Feminist Demonstration

    First Feminist Demonstration
    Emmeline and her sister were apart of a feminist demonstration. She was exposed to this because her father supported a women’s right to vote and this view was put upon her and her sister. This was when she was just 10 years old and it is likely this is the first time she was exposed to an event like this. This contributed to her advocacy for gender equality because she was able to see romodels standing up for a woman and their rights at an early age.
  • First Women's Suffrage Rally

    First Women's Suffrage Rally
    Emmeline went to her first women’s suffrage rally. This contributed to her advocacy for gender equality because she was young and it was one of the first couple of significant events in her life where she saw women taking a stand for equality which ultimately impacted her view and stance on the topic to later become an advocate.
  • Ecole Normale Superieure School

    Ecole Normale Superieure School
    Emmeline was sent to a school named Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. The Director of that school was Marchef Girard who strongly believed that boys and girls should have the same amount of education. This contributed to her advocacy for gender equality because she was given an opportunity to learn the same way as boys her age when growing up she did not have an opportunity like this, from a school run by another woman who believed that both genders should get the same opportunities.
  • Emmeline Pankhurst Marries Richard Pankhurst

    Emmeline Pankhurst Marries Richard Pankhurst
    Emmeline married Richard Pankhurst who was a lawyer. He was also a strong advocate for women's rights as he authored the first woman suffrage bill in Great Britain as well as the Married Women’s Property acts. This contributed to Emmeline’s advocacy for gender equality because she chose a partner who was already heavily in the community for women’s rights and this influenced her to become a big figure within the women’s suffrage movements.
