  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    This made California a free state,but the North had to return any runaway slaves.This made Georgia pass the Georgia Platform which said they would secede if the deal was broken.

  • Election of 1860

    Election of 1860
    An election for president in which republican Abraham Lincoln defeated Democrat Stephen A. Douglass. The results of the election infuriated the south because he opposed slavery.

  • Antietam

    This was a one day battle that the Union one.Was the bloodiest one day battle. After this war, Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation which said all slaves shall be free,but it did not free anyone.

  • Gettysburgh

    A three day battle that marked the end of the civil war. The Confederacy used a fighting technique called the Picketts charge to break infantry,but it failed.

  • Frredmens bureau

    This aided poor black and white men. The freedmen's bureau was vetoed by president Andrew Johnson,but congress overrode it.

  • Klu Klutz Klan (K.K.K)

    K.K.K was a white supremacist group who did not want African Americans to have rights, so they terrorized them. One fun fact is the K.K.K tried to take Rosa Parks highway.
